Six things that make it worth the money

The Black Hole is a proper hobby-style off-road truggy rather than a toy car: a real differential, independent suspension on all four wheels, and a controller that responds to how far you squeeze it instead of just on and off.

Four-wheel drive with a real differential

Power reaches all four wheels through a ring gear and pin differential, so the wheels can turn at different speeds through a corner instead of scrubbing and skipping. That is what lets it pull away cleanly on grass, gravel and loose dirt.

Suspension and tyres for rough ground

Four independent high-elastic shock absorbers, one at each corner, soak up ruts and small jumps and keep the tyres on the ground. The soft tubeless tyres are the grippy kind that bite into loose surfaces rather than sliding across them.

Full proportional control

Squeeze the trigger a little and it creeps; squeeze it fully and it goes. Same with the steering wheel. Forward, reverse, left, right and brake are all proportional, which is what makes a fast car controllable for a first-time driver.

Lights that work

An LED bar across the roof and headlights in the nose, so it still looks the part after dark and you can see where it is at the far end of a garden.

Battery and charging

A 7.4V 1200mAh lithium battery sits in a bay under the body. A full charge takes about 3 hours and gives roughly 20 minutes of running.
