Six driven wheels, not four

Most crawlers at this size drive four wheels. The Unimog drives all six, which is exactly what the real truck does — and it is the reason it keeps pulling when a four-wheeler has one wheel spinning in the air.

Metal where it counts

A metal ladder frame carries beam axles with metal gears inside, driven through a proper gearbox. This is a hobby-style drivetrain rather than an all-plastic toy chassis, and it is the part that decides whether a crawler survives being used.

Two-speed high/low gearbox

A mechanical high/low box, like a real off-roader's transfer case. Low range for crawling slowly over rocks with maximum torque, high range when you want to cover ground.

A faithful Unimog

The body is modelled on the real Mercedes-Benz Unimog — the cab, the flat load bed, the roof rack with jerry cans and recovery boards, the snorkel and the wipers. It looks the part standing still, which is half of why people buy these.

Lights for night runs

Linked LED headlights and spot lights on the front bar, so it stays visible and looks right when you run it after dark.

Runs a long time

Up to 40 minutes on one charge of the 7.4V 500mAh battery — far longer than most fast cars, because a crawler works at low speed and low current. A charge takes about 2 hours, and the electronics have low-voltage cut-off and overvoltage protection built in.
