Pop-up headlights that actually pop up

The real Mazda MX5's signature party trick, reproduced in miniature: press the remote's C button and the headlights flip up out of the bonnet, just like the real car. It's a small detail that most RC cars this size don't bother with.

Built for RWD drift, not four-wheel grip

Rear-wheel drive with fully proportional throttle and steering — squeeze a little, it moves a little — is what makes a drift car controllable rather than just fast in a straight line. An all-nylon chassis keeps it light without being fragile.

The body, close up

Clean white paint, black roll-hoop-style trim around the glass, and the proportions of the real MX5 rather than a generic sports car shape.

The remote

2.4GHz, 3-channel, with about 20 metres of range — enough space to actually drift rather than being tethered close in.
